Dog training classes - Puppy and Beginner
Puppy and Beginner classes
This class is aimed at puppies, new handlers and their dogs. We also welcome the older dog that is just starting training, such as newly re-homed or rescue dogs. We’ve never turned a dog away.
We recommend a suitable length lead and either a flat or ½ check collar. Our training is motivational and reward based, so please bring lots of treats and a favourite toy.
You will learn how to teach your dog to respond to basic commands, and to socialise your dog. This includes:
- Heel on lead
- Sit
- Down
- Stand
- Introduction to Sit and Down stays
- Watch/Look
- Come when called
- Introduction to retrieve
- Socialisation with other dogs and people
- Royal Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Assessment
- Bronze Royal Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme
We take part in the Royal Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme which encourages responsible dog ownership, as laid out in the RKC Canine Code. All dogs are eligible for Good Citizen training, be they pedigree or cross-breed, young or old. This class works towards two of the awards - RKC Puppy Foundation Assessment and RKC Bronze Award.
